A Lap Around Antioch with Candice Martin - May 3, 2023

by: Candice Martin

Midweek races are a crap shoot. People have to work during the week, so it's usually not a good move to have anything planned during the week. In this case, we got a date for the Central California Clash.

We had to go for it. We got a decent car count by today's standards, that's a positive. There was a time not too many years ago when the car count would have been better, but I think you have to factor in economics.

We had rain on Tuesday, and that didn't do us any favors. The pit area and the track handled that pretty well. It's just the fact that you have it in people's minds that it's going to get rained out.

The fact is, it was pretty cloudy on Wednesday and a little bit cooler. There was only so much we could do to get people to come to this one, and that's a real shame. The track was hooked up, and the racing was good, but the grandstands were not looking so good.

We do pay-per-view these days, but we didn't control the service this time. So, the takeaway is Antioch Speedway had a good race, but unfortunately it didn't do well for the track in other aspects. The pits were full though. Lots of people coming from all over California and a few from out of state.

We learn the lessons and move ahead. Saturday night we're back at it again, so we're keeping busy doing what we do. We always do our best.
