Powerful 410's return to Antioch Speedway Saturday for KWS Round 15

What:
Following a weekend off the Cancen Oil King of the West Sprint Car Series presented by Goodyear will be back in action this Saturday night July 21 at the always action-packed Antioch Speedway.
Saturday’s event is round number fifteen in the fight for the KWS title and the third time that the series has competed at the Contra Costa County Fairgrounds bullring.
Previous winners at the track this year include reigning champion Tim Kaeding of San Jose & Sacramento wheel-man Kyle Hirst.
Hirst in fact will return on Saturday looking for his second win of the season aboard Dennis & Teresa Roth’s immaculate No. 83 sprinter. The 24-year-old has been impressive thus far in his three starts driving the famed car.
Chico’s Jonathan Allard had a tough outing in Antioch on June 23, but comes into this weekend holding a large lead in the point standings. The two-time state champion has won four main events this season, including the most recent show on July 7 in Watsonville.
National Sprint Car Hall of Famer Brent Kaeding led laps in the main event during the June 23 event at Antioch and goes into this weekend’s program ranking second in the standings. “BK” picked up his first win of the season in Placerville on June 30.
Rounding out the top-five in points coming into the Antioch Speedway are Scotts Valley’s Evan Suggs, Clovis, CA’s Peter Murphy and Elk Grove’s Bobby McMahan. Murphy has been climbing the standings as of late and is as high as he’s been all season.
Six-time Dirt Cup champion and National Sprint Car Hall of Famer Jimmy Sills will make his sixth appearance of the KWS season driving for Dan Simpson Racing. “The Professor” earned the Pit Stop USA Hard Charger award during the June 23 event in Antioch.
Other drivers looking for victory this weekend will be former state champion Jason Statler, Sacramento’s Willie Croft, Placerville’s Andy Gregg, Fremont’s Shane Golobic, Fresno’s Craig Stidham, Fair Oak’s Chad Compton and many more.
When:
On Saturday July 21 the front grandstand gate will be open at 5pm. Hot laps are scheduled for 6pm, with qualifying at 6:30pm and racing anticipated to start around 7pm.

Antioch Speedway is located on the Contra Costa County Fairgrounds at the corner of 10th and L Streets in Antioch, California. Take SR-4 East (Highway 4) to the Somersville Road North Exit. Follow Somersville Road to 10th Street. Turn Right on 10th Street. The address for the track is 1201 W. 10th Street Antioch, CA 94509.
About the track:
The Antioch Speedway was lengthened and re-configured prior to the 2009 season and is now a one-third mile semi-banked clay oval. The most recent event in June saw the all-time KWS track record fall when Kyle Hirst ripped the Antioch clay in 11.705 seconds.

Tickets:
Tickets will be available the day of the race with adults being $20, children 6-12 $10, seniors 65 & older $10 and children 5 & under free. A family pack with two adults & two children will also be available for $50.
This past April & June at Antioch Speedway:
Last year’s KWS champion Tim Kaeding opened the 2012 season in victorious fashion at the Antioch Speedway on April 7 aboard the Roth Motorsports No. 83 mount. “TK” led all 30-laps in the main event and held off a late charge from Jonathan Allard, who came home in second. Rounding out the top-five were Rico Abreu, Kyle Larson and Bobby McMahan.
Taking advantage of an early race collision between the leaders on June 23 Kyle Hirst took full control and drove to a big victory at the Antioch Speedway with the Cancen Oil KWS Series presented by Goodyear.
The win came during Hirst’s first ever start in the potent Roth Motorsports, HR Cattle No. 83 machine and also saw him open the night by setting a new Antioch Speedway KWS track record. For the 24-year-old it marked his fourth career Golden State/KWS victory and first since 2009.
Rounding out the top-five on June 23 were Craig Stidham, Andy Gregg, Bobby McMahan and Tyler Wolf.
