Gregg Grabs Fifth at Antioch

PETERSEN MEDIA- During the 13th round of Golden State King of the West Series, Placerville, CA driver, Andy Gregg, rebounded from a string of hard luck and tallied a fifth place finish aboard his Bret Ervin Racing/7 Industries/Ott powered sprinter.

After a seventh place finish in the dash, Gregg lined his Wheel Vintiques/College Cyclery/Autism Awareness up in the seventh position for the 30-lap feature on a very locked down racing surface.

A red called back the initial start, and then a lap two yellow slowed the pace once again before the race took shape after the third stoppage on lap five.

Once the race got back underway on the fifth circuit, Gregg began pressuring Brad Furr for the sixth spot over the next 10-laps. Going both high and low in three and four, and utilizing the bottom in turns one and two, the duo continued to play ‘cat and mouse’.

On the 19th lap of the feature, trouble struck right in front of Gregg, involving three front-runners, and Gregg was able to avoid near disaster.

Now lining up in the fourth spot, Gregg and Jonathan Allard began to battle for the fourth position, with Allard getting the spot with a bold move in turns one and two.

The last eight circuits saw Gregg continually hound Allard, but held on to the fifth spot as he took the Ryan Rielly checkered flag.

Gregg kicked the night off by timing in his BR Motorsports/King Racing Products/GUTS entry with the fifth fastest lap of the 25 cars assembled. His second place run in his heat transferred him directly into the dash and the feature.

“Tonight was definitely a better night then we have had the last few weeks,” explained Gregg. “I do still think we can be better so we will definitely keep working at it.”
